Today: The Bear.
The Bear as a totem or guide represents introspection; or looking into ones self. One of the things we need to remember in this fast paced world, is how to retain knowledge. Anyone can learn to mimic certain things, as human beings we are experts at this. To retain knowledge and apply it towards your life there is a requirement; the need for introspection and this is one of the messages of the bear totem.
Todays world is chaotic and crowded (some places more then others) and with obligations like work, children, and day to day necessities, most people cannot find the time they need to relax and recharge their batteries. One of the message the bear brings is that there is a need to create time to rest, to prepare for the time ahead. Physically our bodies need the right amount of time for sleep. The body grows and repairs itself and this is essential for good health; mind, body and spirit.
The bear carries a dual aspect:
The Bear represents introspection and tranquility. He is also the symbol of a great and fearsome warrior. His temper is sparked by an invasion or threat to his personal space (this is very intense where family are concerned).
To many cultures the bear represents dream time (the place where prayers and intentions take us). To many native cultures, and cultures throughout the world bear medicine is female energy.
A hibernating bear represents YIN or female energy (introspection, intuition, dream time) or lunar. The awake Bear is Yang, solar or masculine energy; this is what balance is all about. Each must be in balance to accentuate the other.
As a totem or guide bear is saying, conserve energy, create a charity in your visions; it is time to conserve and build up energy, rather then to expend energy, contemplate on your options and above all else keep your environment secure and safe, be prepared and ready when the opportunity approaches you not the other way around.
